What is the difference between plastic and reconstructive surgery?
Plastic or cosmetic surgery is performed to reshape the body in order to improve an individual's appearance and self-esteem. Reconstructive surgery is performed on abnormal structures of the body, caused by congential defects, developmental abnormalities, trauma, infection, tumors or disease. It is generally performed to improve function, but may also be done to create a "normal" appearance.

What procedures do plastic surgeons perform?
Plastic surgeons perform aesthetic or cosmetic procedures to improve areas of an individual's face, neck and body, including eyes, nose, lips, chin, neck, breasts, abdomen, thighs, arms and skin. They also perform reconstructive procedures and surgery of the hand, jaw and facial skeleton, as well as skin covers to any part of the body.

Will I have a scar after plastic surgery?
Scarring is a natural part of the healing process, and the severity of the scarring varies from person to person. A plastic surgeon trains and studies surgical techniques to place scars in the most desirable location to reduce visibility or severity.
